All residents agree to move into FIU apartments under the terms of their housing agreement. Students should read the agreement to understand what they expect and ask as FIU residents. All accommodation requests are made through the myFIU student portal. Connect to myFIU and go into student tools and choose student accommodations. Students newly present in the apartment must pay a non-refundable processing fee of $100.00. If a student has a medical need that would prevent him from living in a dwelling, he can apply for medical dismissal. Housing works closely with student health services and the resource centre to respond to requests and respect absolute confidentiality. Medical information is not shared with FIU Housing. Students should stay in touch with these offices to determine if a cancellation is warranted.
If the cancellation application is rejected, the student must purchase the housing contract to terminate his residence. If the student decides to purchase it, he must take the following steps for approval: FIU Housing will assess the fees for all authorized cancellations of this Agreement and all costs in accordance with the agreement. The housing contract is a legally binding agreement. Students are not exempt from their agreement for financial, dietary or medical reasons. However, students may, under certain conditions, request the termination of the housing contract (documentation required): if you receive an allocation of space on campus, you can send mail to the address of the building indicated by the residency task and indicate your name and room number. All packages for quad occupants must be picked up at the Lakeview South Package Centre. Residents of the University apartments pick up their packages in a complex office. For all other students, applications are separated in the summer and fall. You can apply for each of these conditions as soon as the housing contract on the myFIU account becomes active for students.
For first-year students, the early fall agreement involves early fall, fall and summer and allows the student to stay in the same room for all three terms. If you are applying for housing, you must file a non-refundable processing fee at the time of the contract application. The processing fee is US$100 and is used to process the housing contract in our system. This tax is not estimated on the rental of the room. If you see an error message when you fill in the app, you can log in to myFIU and reconnect to try again. You do NOT create multiple apps by clicking on the case app more than once. If you have tried several times and still receive an error message, call us at 305-348-4190. Locks should not be handled in any way that interferes with the use of keys or prevents the locking/unlocking of doors. Locks must not be mounted on the doors of the device, modified or replaced, except by a licensed housing staff. No doors should be opened; a $50 fee is charged for a supported door. The use of a dead screw in the locking position to keep the door open is prohibited.
